Packhorse is a pre-launch project. At this stage, the only personal data we collect through this website is what you give us when you join the waitlist. This policy explains what that is, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
1. Who we are
The data controller is:
[Company name] Kft. [Registered address] Company registration number: [number] Tax number: [number] Email: [privacy@packhorse.eu]
We are based in Budapest, Hungary. Hungarian and EU law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), applies to how we handle your data.
2. What we collect
When you sign up through the form on this website, we collect:
Your first name
Your last name (optional)
Your email address
Whether you expect to use Packhorse mostly as a sender, a carrier, or both
The date and time you signed up
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, anything else. We do not collect payment details, ID documents, or location data at this stage.
If you email us directly, we will keep the content of that email and your address so we can reply.
3. Why we collect it and our legal basis
We use your data to:
Send you updates about Packhorse, including a periodic note from the founder and a notice when the service goes live. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you give by submitting the form.
Understand who is interested, for example how many people want to send versus carry, so we can decide what to build first. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in developing the service (Article 6(1)(f)). We only use your data in aggregate for this and never make decisions about you individually.
Reply to you if you contact us. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising on other platforms, or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist data until one of the following happens:
You unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, in which case we delete it within 30 days.
Packhorse launches and you either become a user (at which point a new privacy policy for the service will apply) or do not sign up within 12 months of launch, in which case we delete your waitlist record.
The project is discontinued, in which case we delete all waitlist data within 3 months.
Direct emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and no longer than 24 months.
5. Who processes your data on our behalf
We use the following service providers, who act as data processors under written agreements and may only use your data on our instructions:
Squarespace, Inc. (United States) hosts this website and stores form submissions. Transfers to the US are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.
[Email service provider, e.g. Squarespace Email Campaigns / Mailchimp / Resend] sends our update emails. [Note where data is stored and the transfer mechanism, if outside the EU.]
We do not share your data with any other third party unless the law requires us to.
6. Cookies
This website is built on Squarespace, which sets a small number of cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function (for example, to remember your cookie preferences). We do not run analytics or advertising cookies at this time. If that changes, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
Access the data we hold about you
Correct it if it is wrong
Delete it ("right to be forgotten")
Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything done before you withdrew
Restrict or object to how we process it
Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
Complain to a supervisory authority
To exercise any of these, email us at [privacy@packhorse.eu]. We will respond within one month. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, which is the fastest way to withdraw consent.
The supervisory authority in Hungary is the Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH), 1055 Budapest, Falk Miksa utca 9-11, www.naih.hu. If you live in another EU country, you may also complain to your local authority.
8. Security
Your data is stored on Squarespace's servers, which use encryption in transit and at rest. Access on our side is limited to the founders and protected by two-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small so there is little to lose.
9. Children
This website and the waitlist are not intended for anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your data, we will update this page and, where the change is significant, email you before it takes effect.
